Just beyond the shadow of a doubt

This blog was created for me to put my musings down in written form, and maybe help others make choices through lessons that I have learned. Sometimes I just use it to get the words out of my head, or figure out something, or just because I want to.

Dear Britney Spears,

http://www.britneyspears.com/
(her website will eventually update and therefore the blog below will not have the same reference point in the future...)

This morning I had heard the news that you had blogged on your website. While some of the stuff that you were quoted as having written made me gag...I figured I'd give it a chance and read everything you wrote. My initial reaction to opening your website was "Put your clothes on WOMAN!!!!". Seriously, the naked picture of you, covering yourself and wearing long white satin gloves. Not really applicable to the blog entry...and really not giving your words much credibility.

As for the words themselves, while I am trying and ignore the silly picture, they did sound like you. Congrats...but guess what...get over yourself. We all go through sh*t...and it all goes through our own personal tabloids (rumour mill, work, friends, and now facebook)...and we all have to deal. Actions speak louder than words. Good on you for saying everything you did, now step up and start dealing. It seems you've clued back into the real world...so like I said...power to you for that...now stick around.

Now back to the stupid picture. If you try to argue that you're making a point about being exposed and trying to cover yourself...yeah...no...it's not working. Take off that wig, take off those stupid gloves and actually make a point artistically, instead of just doing a lousy pin up shot. Or don't even go that direction, put your clothes back on, take off the wig, use less airbrushing and show us a confident, and growing new you.

So...actions please...because right now your words are not loud enough, that picture is drowning them out.

Yours truly,
~sarah~

Thank you Toronto...

...for the best fireworks show that I have EVER seen!!!

For the past two years I had had a South facing apartment on the 12th floor of my building facing Lake Ontario. And for every fireworks show displayed just East of the Toronto Island, I would sit at my window or on my balcony and watch the lovely performances, sometimes with the radio accompaniment. And all those shows were great and fun, some I had friends over for, most it was me alone. And I can remember wishing I had someone to share the lightshow with me. Someone I could cuddle up with, to ooooh and ahhh with.

Two months ago I moved into a new apartment with Ian, a floor higher, but North facing. And I am so happy to be wonderfully in love, but felt a pang of regret to lose my great firework watching location. I knew I got the better deal with Ian :)

And then last night the most wonderful thing occured.

Ian and I were sitting in the living room watching a movie...and we heard some fireworks out in the street, just neighbours setting off their store-bought ones. And then I glanced out the window and yelled..."pause...hit pause" And ran outside...Ian ran to follow.

What we could see from our balcony was the largest and most wonderful light show I had ever seen! All the way North from my building...as far as the eye could see...fireworks going off, all kinds, all colours all over the place. It was just every little street, neighbourhood and backyard shooting them off, but for a full hour we were spectators to the neatest thing I have ever witnessed. Better than any Ottawa Canada Day firework show, or the CNE's lightshow...it was so fabulous and so much fun!!!!

So not only did I get what I had always wanted...someone to cuddle with and watch the fireworks with...but the best darn firework display anyone could have ever planned. As I closed my eyes to fall asleep later, I could still see all the lights popping and dancing behing my eyes.

I just wanted to thank all the residents who set off a single firework last night...for making mine the best fireworks ever!!!! :)
